Coronavirus and Green Tea Catechins

We have been researching about the antiviral effects of green tea. Of course, there is no research yet on green tea and coronavirus, but we thought you would be interested to see some of the research on how Green Tea Catechins provide protection against other viruses including flu viruses.

This study says, “Over the past few decades, Green Tea Catechins, especially EGCG, have been recognized as multifunctional bioactive molecules responsible for antitumorigenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, antiproliferative, antibacterial, and antiviral effects.”  (*Emphasis added.)

antiviral effects of green tea Catechins

“The above figure shows the inhibitory effects of EGCG against viruses at different stages of viral invasion. In this figure, to summarize many different viruses and models, according to the genome replication (omitting the type of nucleic acid), the viruses are divided into two types: nuclear virus and cytoplasmic virus. The symbol “⊥” indicates the sites of Green Tea Catechins and its antiviral effects.

From the antiviral effects reported, whether the viral genome is DNA or RNA, Green Tea Catechins seem to be able to function in different stages of infections of both nuclear viruses and cytoplasmic RNA viruses.”**

Build Immune System Naturally

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of good hygiene including proper and frequent handwashing to prevent coronavirus infection. And here are a few additional measures for you to adopt to protect you and to build up your immune system naturally:

1. Secure quality sleep for 6-8 hours.
2. Inplace stress management in your life–and laugh more often.
3. Clean the items that are “a part of you”, such as glasses and cellphones.
4. Exercise more often.
5. Eat a balanced diet. Avoid sugary drinks including fruit juice. Eat whole fruit instead of drinking fruit juice.
6. Drink quality Green Tea and/or our “Immune Booster” throughout the day.
