Is Sencha Powder cancer-fighting tea?

Green Tea and Matcha are well known for their health benefits. Have you ever wondered if green tea is effective in terms of cancer treatment? Does Sencha powder really kill cancer cells? Is our “Edible Green Sencha powder tea” a cancer-fighting tea?

We have great news for you. A team of German scientists conducted a thorough, in-depth research on green tea antioxidants and cancer cells, with a focus on Leukemia and Multiple Myeloma cells.

The results of this just-published study are remarkable and very encouraging. Especially for us, because the scientists, without our knowledge, purchased Edible Green Sencha green tea powder for their study.

As you know, cancer is characterized by uncontrolled tumor cell growth and abnormal cell cycle progression. During the research, Edible Green Sencha powder antioxidants significantly affected cancer cells and induced cell cycle arrest followed by the death of cancer cells, so-called “apoptosis.” 

Also, they found that higher doses of Sencha increase the extent of apoptosis (cancer cell death).

They observed the Edible Green Sencha powder antioxidants work “in action” at the level of Mitochondria. Mitochondria are known as “the powerhouse of the cell,” as Mitochondria are where the biochemical processes of respiration and energy production occur.  

Mitochondria are the major site of production of “ROS”, reactive oxygen species. Increased ROS in mitochondria causes oxidative stress, loss of MMP, Mitochondrial membrane potential, and DNA damage in malignant cells, and finally the death of cancer cells. Their data suggested that Edible Green Sencha powder increased the ROS generation of cancer cells, and caused mitochondrial dysfunction of cancer cells, and thus apoptosis of the cancer cell.

Furthermore, the team of professors researched to see if there is a way to predict the responsiveness of cancer cell lines to the Sencha tea antioxidants. The test result indicates that the mRNA expression of the genes causes a dendrogram branching that was able to predict the responsiveness of cell lines to the specific antioxidants. 

On top of that, the team found the several genes may be the determinants of cellular resistance to the antioxidants, which means, by finding the particular genes in the cancer cells, we could predict if green tea antioxidants are effective.

Their research also studied therapeutic strategies against cancer, analyzing Sencha green tea antioxidants’ effects on gene pathways. 

The research concludes that the outcomes support the chemopreventive property of Edible Green Sencha powder tea against hematologic malignancies through multiple routes of action in vitro.

Another remarkable fact that this study observed was Sencha antioxidants were able to differentiate between normal cells and cancer cells. They only adversely affected cancer cells.
