This is an absolutely beautiful tea from start to finish. High in antioxidants, this Hojicha is a rewarding way to do something good for yourself. It is an experience that delights the senses and transports the tea drinker to a place of comfort and delight.
With delicious, toasty notes that are both crisp and nutty, sweet rose, and layers of minerality, there are inviting layers to each sip. It is medium bodied, with a silky mouthfeel that is a testament to its quality. It can be brewed a second time, resulting in a wonderfully rich cup with an enhanced, toasty sweetness that lingers.
Once you open the pouch, you’re immediately enveloped in the most wonderfully toasty, floral aroma, green notes, wild roses on the bloom, charcoal, and notes of wood. The brewed aroma is deeply roasted and nutty, dusky, floral rose, and honey. Aromas reminiscent of a quality rock oolong.
The tea is a tantalizing blend of rose petals and buds, and Hojicha. It’s beautiful to look at, with both light and dark roasted Hojicha leaves, and light and dark red rose. You’ll likely want to brew it in a glass teapot in order to get the full experience of this tea; and to watch as the tea leaves and flowers dance and unfurl. For the first couple of minutes it brews a lovely rose’ color, and deepens with time to a light but brilliant topaz.
It’s such a comforting, self-nurturing, cuppa; providing its comfort and ease to both mind and body. The natural relaxant and antidepressant properties of rose are perfect for a tasty unwinding after a stressful day or as a midday reprieve. Additionally, the lower caffeine content that occurs as a result of the roasting process – along with the naturally occurring high levels of L-theanine and rose – make this a perfect choice for creating a focused state of relaxation. The aroma of Hojicha alone has been shown to spark an increase of alpha waves in the brain.
