If you don't have simple syrup, prepare equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring to a low simmer over medium high heat, stirring until mixture is clear. Cool and add to cocktail or store in a covered glass container in the refrigerator.

Shake the ingredients with crushed ice in a cocktail shaker, strain into the prepared glass. Add a lemon twist if you like.
